Eight Taiwanese Classics Get a 2027 Release Plan

London-based distributor Radiance Films has acquired eight Taiwanese classics from the Taiwan Film and Audiovisual Institute, including works by acclaimed directors Hou Hsiao-hsien and Tsai Ming-liang. The titles are set for theatrical and home entertainment releases in 2027. The deal was unveiled on Thursday at Lyon's International Classic Film Market, the trade gathering where archives and rights holders pitch older cinema to distributors. A batch of eight archive films arriving with cinema plans attached is a bigger bet than one title trickling out, and it puts two of Taiwan's best-known directors back into theatrical circulation rather than leaving them to specialist streaming catalogues and retrospectives.
