McDonagh Closes VIFF's 45th Edition, and 'I Play Rocky' Takes the Audience Award

The 45th Vancouver International Film Festival ran with a slate of high-profile titles, Variety reports, including Jesse Eisenberg's “The Debut,” which the trade outlet says has been generating awards buzz for its star, Julianne Moore. Martin McDonagh's black comedy “Wild Horse Nine,” with John Malkovich and Sam Rockwell, took the closing-night slot. Peter Farrelly's “I Play Rocky” won the Audience Award among Special Presentations. A festival's closing night and its audience prize are two different kinds of vote — one chosen by programmers, one by the people who bought tickets and stayed to the end.
