Aamir Khan's Screen Icon Award Comes With a 25th-Anniversary ‘Lagaan’ Screening

The Singapore International Film Festival will give its Screen Icon Award to Indian actor, director and producer Aamir Khan at its 37th edition, and will pair the honour with a 25th-anniversary Special Presentation screening of “Lagaan: Once Upon a Time in India,” with director Ashutosh Gowariker in attendance. The festival opens with the South Korean thriller “The Assassin(s),” directed by Hur Jin-ho. An award plus a quarter-century-old film in the same slot is a neat way of arguing that the icon and the work are the same event.
