A Two-Week Walk Across Prince Edward Island, With a Flag Carried in Ukraine

Julia Cardy will spend two weeks walking across Prince Edward Island carrying a flag that her friend April Huggett carried for 700 kilometres in Ukraine. CBC reports the walk is raising money for Ukrainian soldiers and, in the process, bringing their stories closer to home. Two weeks on foot is a particular kind of fundraising: slower than a campaign, harder to walk past, and with the distance itself doing part of the arguing. The flag is the through-line — an object that has already travelled a long way, now moving at the pace of a person.
