A Court Said the Paramount-Warner Merger Would Likely Break Antitrust Law. Then It Closed.
Paramount Skydance has completed its $111 billion merger with Warner Bros. Discovery, Ars Technica reports. In July, US District Judge Araceli Martínez-Olguín in the Northern District of California ruled that the combination would likely reduce competition substantially and violate antitrust laws.
The price tag will get the headlines, but the ruling is the part worth keeping: a federal judge put a finding of likely anticompetition on the record, and the transaction is now complete.
