What a Flood Looks Like in False Color
NASA's Earth Observatory published a false-color satellite view of flooding in Thailand, and the color scheme is doing the work. Floodwaters render dark blue, flanking a meandering river; vegetated land reads bright green, which makes the water's spread legible as a shape rather than a grey smear. In the same scene, those floodwaters cover a large swath of agricultural or aquacultural land, primarily on the left side of the image. The view is credited to NASA Earth Observatory / Lauren Dauphin.
