Three Galaxies 65 Million Light-Years Away That Barely Glow
About 65 million light-years from Earth, three galaxies don't look quite right. They aren't whirlpools bursting with light but pallid objects dimly illuminated by a smattering of stars. “They have this ghostly appearance,” Yale University astrophysicist Michael Keim told Quanta Magazine. A galaxy that is hard to see is not necessarily a small thing — the faintness here is the feature that makes the trio worth a second look.
