The Atlantic's First Hurricane of the Year Is a Category 2 Aimed at the Gulf Coast

Hurricane Isaias has strengthened to a Category 2 storm as it moves toward land, putting millions along the Gulf Coast on alert, PBS NewsHour reports.

Forecasters are warning of heavy rain, damaging winds, flooding, storm surge and the possibility of tornadoes. Isaias is the first hurricane in the Atlantic basin this year — a season's opening hurricane arriving as a Category 2 bearing down on a populated coastline.
