Satellite Imagery Tracks the Darkening of the Florida Panhandle After Hurricane Isaias
Nighttime satellite imagery from NASA Earth Observatory illustrates the footprint of coastal disruption left by Hurricane Isaias. In a baseline composite from August 2026, lights along the Florida Panhandle shone brightest across Pensacola and Destin, forming a continuous illuminated corridor along the road connecting them. By October 11, 2026, post-storm imagery revealed a marked contrast: both Pensacola and Destin appeared dimmer with fewer lights, alongside distinct dark gaps breaking up the roadway between them.
