Nova Scotia's American Liquor Stockpile Is Almost Gone
When Nova Scotia's Crown-run alcohol retailer and distributor pulled American products from its shelves last year, it took about $15 million worth of inventory off the floor — more than 600,000 units. Sales have since resumed, and CBC reports that only about $1.5 million of that product is left. That's roughly a tenth of the original stock, which is how the headline number in the title works out: the pile is nearly spent, not nearly restored. A withdrawal like that is loud, and so is the reversal. The actual clearing-out is quiet — one bottle at a time, in the ordinary course of retail, long after anyone stopped arguing about it.
