Nolo Is Forecast to Strengthen — and to Keep Its Center Away From Hawaii

Nolo was expected to keep strengthening and to turn toward the northwest by Sunday night, according to the National Hurricane Center. The same forecast put the storm's center well south and southwest of the Hawaiian Islands, which makes the track the more reassuring half of the picture. An intensifying storm is not the same as a storm bearing down on land: what matters for the islands is where the center is projected to go, and on that the guidance kept it at a distance.
