Nearly 40 Years After Hellraiser, Clive Barker Is Ready to Open the Box Again

Nearly four decades after the Lament Configuration first appeared on screen, Clive Barker is ready to explore the Hellraiser film franchise again, Deadline reports. Barker wrote and directed the original 1987 horror movie, and the report sits alongside the recent release of Saber Interactive's Hellraiser: Revival video game.

A tie-in game is a familiar second life for a horror property whose film future is unsettled, and the interesting question is whether a game release can pull a founding filmmaker back to the material rather than simply license the name. That is a different proposition from a licence fee: the creator of the original returning to the puzzle box, rather than a studio hiring a new hand to open it.
