Fourteen Years After 'The Bourne Legacy,' Tony Gilroy Directs Again

Deadline's reviewer counts the gap out loud: 14 years since Tony Gilroy last directed a feature film, 2012's The Bourne Legacy, with Duplicity and 2007's Oscar-nominated Michael Clayton before that. He has been busy since — notably with the critically acclaimed TV series Andor — and the review is glad to see his rare sophisticated storytelling back in a feature again. Optimist: a Gilroy feature is a Gilroy feature, and 14 years of waiting only sharpens the appetite. Skeptic: if that kind of storytelling has been living on television, then a film is a homecoming, a side project or a step sideways. Pick one.
