AWS Says New SageMaker Studio Users Can Sign Up With Google or GitHub in 2–3 Steps
AWS says new SageMaker AI customers can now land inside a fully configured SageMaker Studio environment in only a few steps after signing up for AWS. New customers can sign up with an existing Google, GitHub, Apple, or Amazon account, or with an email address, in 2–3 steps.
They no longer need to complete the advanced AWS account sign-up, verify a phone number, or enter a credit card — the last of those for most customers.
AWS says SageMaker AI then creates the Studio environment automatically in about 20 seconds. New customers also receive $100 in AWS Free Tier credits usable across SageMaker AI, including endpoint deployments, model customization, Studio notebooks, and model training.

Account creation was doing more gatekeeping than the notebook ever did. Phone verification and a payment field are tiny frictions, but they are exactly the kind that turn a five-minute experiment into a task for later.
The hedge deserves a second read: skipping the credit card applies to most new customers, not all of them. And the $100 in credits is AWS's own offer across AWS's own services — a pricing move dressed as an onboarding gift, not a measured saving.
