A Student Drama From TIFF Lands at Sony Pictures Classics

Sony Pictures Classics has taken U.S. and key international territory rights to The Julia Set, the student drama starring Chase Infiniti and directed by Niki Byrne. Deadline reports the film drew headlines at the Toronto Film Festival as Infiniti's next feature outing following One Battle After Another, which the outlet describes as multi-Oscar winning. So the trajectory here is a festival premiere, a lead coming off a heavily awarded film, and a specialty distributor buying in for North America plus key international markets — a small film carrying a recognizable name rather than a large one pretending to be small.
