A Queer Screenwriting Lab Expands Into Southeast Asia
QueerFrames Screenwriting Lab, a training initiative for emerging queer, trans and nonbinary filmmakers, is expanding into Southeast Asia for its fourth annual edition. Its 2026 cohort brings together storytellers from India, the Philippines, Vietnam, Singapore, Indonesia and the diaspora, and consists of eight fiction feature projects, with queerness woven into the core of each story. Eight features is a cohort, not a slate; for a lab, the number that will matter is how many of those projects eventually reach production.
