A Boxing Biopic Nearly Went Down With Its Distributor

The producers of "In the Shadows," an upcoming British boxing biopic, say they staged a last-minute rescue of the film after its U.K. distributor, True Brit Entertainment, filed for administration in late September.

The film is based on the true story of Ramla Ali, a British-Somali boxer, model and UNICEF ambassador. The rescue is the part of filmmaking that never makes the trailer. A film can be finished and still have nowhere to go, because a distributor's collapse can strand a completed project — the edit is done, but the route to an audience sits in someone else's hands.
