Three Senate Debates in One Night, and the Attacks Got Personal
Candidates for the U.S. Senate in three battleground states faced off Thursday night, in debates PBS NewsHour describes as fiery and frequently veering into personal attacks. On the broadcast, David Brooks of The Atlantic and Jonathan Capehart of MS NOW joined Amna Nawaz to work through the week in politics, including the fight for control of Congress. Personal attacks are usually a measure of a race rather than of policy: the closer the contest, the less either side wants to argue on substance.
