The Title Mario Bava's Black Sabbath Lost in Translation

The original Italian title for Mario Bava's 1963 film, I tre volti della paura, translates as “The Three Faces of Fear.” Senses of Cinema argues that title is far more appropriate than Black Sabbath — the name chosen by its international distributor, American International Pictures, which also recut, redubbed, and removed parts of the film.
