The Base Britain Lets American Bombers Use for Limited Strikes on Iran
PBS reports that Fairford has been used by American bombers for strictly limited strikes against Iran under an agreement with former British prime minister Keir Starmer, who voiced opposition to the war after it was launched by the U.S. and Israel on Feb. 28. An agreement to host bombers and a stated objection to the war can share a sentence; what separates them in practice is usually the word limited. A base whose missions are strictly bounded is a different political object from a base in an open war, and the boundary is negotiated, not natural.
