Spain's answer to film financing: a government venture fund

Variety reckons SETT will be one of the major industry narratives at this year's San Sebastián Festival, running Sept. 18–26. It's a venture capital fund belonging to Spain's Ministry for Digital Transformation, and its director general, Javier Ponce, and audiovisual director, María Coronado, are presenting a practical guide to the government's investment drive to power up companies in Spain. Film policy usually arrives as a tax credit; a fund with directors and a mandate to invest in companies is a different proposition — and worth watching at a festival that doubles as a market.
