Portugal's Queer Lisboa Turns 30 With Radical 1970s Work in the Mix
Queer Lisboa, Portugal's leading queer film festival, marked its 30th anniversary this year, opening Friday with a large program spanning contemporary LGBTQ cinema and a retrospective look at underground counterculture — including revolutionary work by activist filmmakers on both sides of the Atlantic.
The scope is deliberately broad: established filmmakers and new voices share the slate with a plunge back into the 1970s radical tradition that helped shape the festival's own history.
