Niagara Falls Answers Buffalo's Anthem With Red, White and Blue

Niagara Falls Tourism placed a full-page open letter in a Buffalo newspaper inviting Americans to cross the bridge and celebrate with Canadians on Saturday — including a showing of the falls lit in the Buffalo Bills' red, white and blue.

CBC reports that the gesture answers a recent home opener, where the NFL team played Canada's national anthem. It also frames the invitation as the latest move in the face of the trade war.

As cross-border diplomacy goes, it is oddly charming: no policy demand, no tariff threat, just a lighting schedule and an open door. Whether a waterfall in football colours changes anything about trade is beside the point of the invitation, which is mostly about the invitation.
