Mexico's Foreign Secretary on Trade, With USMCA Discarded and Tariffs in Place

PBS NewsHour spoke with Mexico's foreign secretary, Roberto Velasco Álvarez, about trade talks between the two countries. The backdrop PBS supplies is blunt: President Trump struck the US-Mexico-Canada Agreement during his first term, then threw that agreement out after retaking office last year, imposing steep tariffs on both neighbours and starting a trade war with Canada. Talks with Mexico are therefore happening without the framework that was designed to govern exactly this trade.
