John Wilson Is Working on 'The History of Concrete' While Helping Run a Queens Microcinema

John Wilson tells IndieWire he is working on a new film called “The History of Concrete,” and that he also helps run the Low Cinema in Queens. There's a pleasing symmetry in the pairing: a filmmaker whose next subject is the most ordinary material imaginable, spending part of his time keeping a small neighborhood screening room going. Microcinemas live or die on the premise that a room, a projector and a handful of people who showed up can be enough. It's the least glamorous infrastructure in movies, and someone has to run it.
