Indonesia Orders a Luxury Prison Compound Demolished

Indonesian lawmakers on Wednesday ordered the demolition of a controversial luxury compound inside a penitentiary near the capital. That is the whole of it, and it is enough: the image of a pampered facility sitting within a prison does the arguing on its own. Prisons are supposed to be one of the few places where money is not supposed to buy a different room, which is precisely why the existence of such a compound became a political problem rather than a footnote.
