Cyprus Is 'Ready' for Schengen. Two Old Problems Aren't.

The European Commission says Cyprus is ready to join the Schengen Area, the border-free travel zone. DW reports that questions relating to the island's division and to British military bases could still complicate its path in. So the Commission's verdict is about the file it can assess; the two complications named are questions of territory and politics, not paperwork — which is why a green light from Brussels and an actual entry date are not the same thing.
