CREA Cuts Its 2026 Forecast as September Home Sales Fall 7.7%

The Canadian Real Estate Association revised down its forecast for 2026, pointing to the potential for Bank of Canada rate hikes and already-increasing fixed-rate mortgages weighing on prospective buyers. Those factors were already showing up in September, when home sales fell 7.7 per cent compared with the same month a year earlier.
