Columbia Promotes Maia Eyre to EVP Creative Development

Sony Pictures has promoted Maia Eyre to executive vice president of creative development at Columbia Pictures, Deadline reports. She moves up from senior vice president in the same department and will report to Peter Kang, Columbia's president of production, on the Culver City lot. Deadline also credits Eyre as the executive responsible for bringing Sydney Sweeney — the star of Anyone but You — and her production side to the studio. A promotion like this is less about a single film than about who gets to greenlight the next several: creative development is the stage where projects are chosen, shaped and kept alive before anyone shoots anything.
