Carney Says Two Countries Will Build Shared Space and Defence Infrastructure
Carney said the two countries will task their space agencies and defence ministries with developing and sharing infrastructure, including launch systems and ground-based reception facilities. They also agreed to expand cooperation in energy, telecommunications, climate resilience and economic development.
What stands out is the shape of the commitment: agencies and ministries instructed to build things together, not merely to say things together. Launch systems and receiving stations are physical, expensive and awkward to unwind once they exist, which makes them a different category of tie from a joint statement — one whose weight would show up later in procurement and operations rather than in the announcement itself.
