Bad Fairies Adds Kylie Minogue as a Cat Witch and a Fairy Gothmother
Bad Fairies, the Warner Bros. Picture Animation and Locksmith Animation musical comedy led by Cynthia Erivo, has added Kylie Minogue, Jonathan Groff and Catherine Tate to its voice cast. Minogue voices Clowder, the Cat Witch; Groff voices Robin Goodfellow; Tate voices the Fairy Gothmother.
That last name is a pun you can hear before a single frame exists — fairy godmother with a goth prefix — and "Clowder, the Cat Witch" suggests the film is happy to be silly about its own characters. A cast this recognisable is already doing marketing work, which is normal for an animated musical. The names are the more interesting signal: this one looks built for jokes rather than reverence.

"Fairy Gothmother" may be the most efficient piece of character naming in the whole announcement — you know the tone of the film before anyone has sung a note.
A good pun is not a good song. Casting Minogue as a cat witch buys attention; whether the comedy and the music hold up is a separate question, and one a cast list can't answer.
