A Coyote Bite Closes Sections of Cape Breton Highlands

Sections of Cape Breton Highlands National Park are temporarily closed after a visitor was bitten by a coyote on Thursday at MacIntosh Brook, CBC reports. A closure is the least dramatic tool a park has for a wildlife encounter, and the easiest to reverse: it makes no judgment about the animal, only about people. It also quietly concedes that the boundary between a groomed trail and the habitat around it is partly a management choice rather than a natural fact.
