A Carrier Comes Home After 265 Straight Days at Sea
PBS NewsHour reports the USS Abraham Lincoln returned to San Diego Bay, capping a deployment that spent a record 265 days of uninterrupted time at sea. The reunion followed what the report describes as an emotional rollercoaster for families, who described crying and losing sleep after hearing reports of supply shortages and deteriorating mental health among the crew during those months. A pier full of relieved families is a good ending. It is not an accounting of how the ship was provisioned or how its crew fared before it turned for home.
