A Brewery's CO2 Fix Began With Plans for Mars

A brewery's carbon dioxide supply is not an obvious concern for a space agency. In 2021, Maine Beer Company's CO2 supplier ran short, and the company went looking for a way to keep production running. According to NASA, the solution it settled on originated in the agency's plans for harvesting resources from the Red Planet. NASA adds that the hardware now saves money and reduces emissions for wineries, distilleries, power companies, helium producers and others. It is an unusually literal case of a space programme's side project paying off on the brewery floor.
